American Express® Traveler Cheques are the perfect way to show your appreciation to employees, clients, or business associates. Because they can be used just like cash, having the proper security measures in place to safeguard your Cheque supply is a must. Here are a few guidelines you should follow for security measures:
Ordering and Monitoring
- Have one individual responsible for ordering and a different individual responsible for receiving the Travelers Cheques
- Confirm the contents of a Travelers Cheque shipment as soon as possible after receipt, and ensure that two employees log Travelers Cheque shipments into inventory
- Have more than one person use the same working supply of Travelers Cheques
Storage
- Keep all Travelers Cheque inventory in a safe place, where cash is kept, out of reach/access of unauthorized personnel
- Have two individuals take a regular physical inventory of your Cheque stock
Extra Security Measures
- Run a complete credit check on employees who are responsible for Travelers Cheques every two years and make employee security training a continuous practice
