The Card is not a credit card and cannot be used as one. You may use the Card to purchase goods and services from select establishments that accept American Express® Cards subject to the conditions and limitations contained in the Card Agreement, any imposed by the establishment, and specific program or purchasing limitations appropriate to the Card as noted on any accompanying literature. Distinguished, yet practical, Gift Cards offer a unique and cost effective alternative to cash or single-merchant gift certificates. Gift Cards' elegant design creates a special experience for recipients upon both presentation and redemption.
Know Your Available Funds
It is important to know your available funds before making purchases. You can view your Card balance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week online at
https://www210.americanexpress.com/thbi/useng/homepage.do, the website listed on the Card or by calling the Customer Service number listed on the Card.
Supplemental Payment
If your desired purchase amount is greater than your available balance, you must consult with the establishment to determine whether supplemental payment is allowed. It is up to each establishment to determine what form of supplemental payment will be accepted. Always use the Card as the first form of payment. Be specific in telling the cashier the exact amount to deduct from the Card. Then, place the remaining balance on a supplemental form of payment.
Use Before Expiration Date
Please use your Card promptly. This Card has a "Valid Thru" date on the front. After that date, the Card will not be accepted at any establishments
Record the Card Number
Should the Card become lost or stolen, you must contact Customer Service immediately. The Customer Service number is listed on the back of the Card. You will need the Card number when requesting a replacement card.
Catalog and Online Shopping
When shopping through a catalog or on the Internet, select American Express as the form of payment.
Using The Card at Restaurants
To use the Card at a participating restaurant that welcomes American Express® cards, simply present the Card at the time of payment. The amount on the Card must be sufficient to cover the purchase amount plus gratuity. The restaurant industry's authorization system automatically adds to the purchase total an amount to cover the gratuity (approximately 20%) at time of authorization. The Card will be declined if it does not cover the authorized amount. Some establishments may allow you to pay for your meal with the Card and to pay the gratuity in cash — or use an additional form of payment. You must consult with the dining establishment regarding payment options, such as supplemental payment in the section above.
Using the Card to Purchase Gasoline
When using the Card at a gas retailer, always pre-pay inside. Tell the attendant the exact amount you would like applied to the Card. If given the option, choose credit instead of debit. Some establishments may accept more than one form of payment. You must consult with the establishment regarding payment options, such as supplemental payment in the section above.
