Description

The LaGuardia Airport Central Terminal Redevelopment project modernized the design of this historic airport and more than doubled the capacity of the outdated terminal first built in 1964. The new design created a central terminal entry to the airport, unified previously disjointed terminals, and increased passenger capacity by approximately 50%. The completion of the Central Terminal Redevelopment Project significantly contributed to the comprehensive redevelopment of LaGuardia Airport. This project came to a successful completion, providing New York City with world class enhancements that significantly impact operations and the passenger experience.

Scope

AEIS’ special inspection and testing team is performing a multitude of on-site and fabrication shop inspections on this expansive terminal redevelopment. Led by AEIS’ Professional Engineer, our inspection and testing team is determining the quality and compliance of project materials and activities in reference to approved specifications, standards, and codes. Established, fully-digital reporting and streamlined communication methods are utilized on a daily basis to ensure a timely and successful project completion.

  • AWS-Certified Welding Inspectors are performing structural steel welding inspections.
  • SNT-TC-1A Level II-certified non-destructive testing (NDT) technicians are performing ultrasonic and magnetic particle testing.
  • ICC-certified inspectors are performing high-strength bolting, fireproofing, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing inspections.
  • ACI- certified field and lab technicians are performing concrete cast-in-place, concrete batch plant,  reinforced steel, and concrete field sampling and testing.
  • NICET-certified technicians are performing soil inspections.
  • Codes utilized: NYS Building Code, International Code Council – Mechanical Code, International Code Council -Plumbing Code, International Code Council – Fuel Gas Code, UL Directories, National Electric Code, all applicable ACI and  ASTM standards, and approved PANYNJ project specifications.
