Combustion / Gas Fusion Analysis

Inhomogeneity of materials can affect and change the material composition and its properties. Combustion and gas fusion techniques are utilized to validate the results of much higher accuracy and high detection limits.

Combustion and Gas Fusion testing is a very accurate method of determining elements  such as carbon, sulphur, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen, with low concentrations  present in a metal or alloy.  Carbon and sulphur content are analyzed by combustion. Hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen content in a metal or alloy are analyzed by gas fusion. Both of these processes are performed in LECO instruments which provide accurate analyses on normal and low concentration contents.
